Now Is The Time To Say "Goodbye"

11 April 2010

Parliament broke up last Thursday (08.04.10) and we formally close down at 5pm on Monday (12.04.10). MPs not standing again curiously retain their titles until the new MP is announced on 6th/7th May 2010.

It has been the greatest honour to be the first MP for the new constituency of Sittingbourne & Sheppey. I have done my very best to serve the various and different communities which have made up the patch.

I'd like to think my record of having helped raise £250 million over 13 years (a record for the South East) will not be beaten in the next decade.

In Parliament I have concentrated on Digital matters, Culture, Foreign Affairs and Sport but I also launched the ASW Occupational Pensions ("Stripped of Our Pensions") campaign which eventually netted £8 billion from a Labour Government.

Around the world, I have maintained an interest in the rights of the Palestinians, Tibet, Zimbabwe, South Africa, India & China.

I have been fortunate to win CPA travel scholarships to Africa and India and IPT Fellowships to China and India.

I am not retiring......I hope to find a "proper" job but in the meantime I have a couple of consultancies in the digital space to tied me over!!
